Belford A. Jolley, 77, retired railroader and grocer, died Monday noon in his home, north of Crawfordsville. Death was attributed to a conorary (sic) occlusion. He had been ill since June 18 when he suffered a leg fracture in a fall. Born July 30, 1881, at Almena, Kan., Mr. Jolley was the son of Francis and Anna VanCleave Jolley. He was married twice, first to Iva Goff, who preceded him in death many years ago. He married Myrtle Walker Dec. 15, 1920. Mr. Jolley, who was engaged in railroading during his early life, operated a grocery store in Crawfordsville for a number of years. Surviving are the wife; a son, Carl Jolley of near Crawfordsville; two sisters, Mary Jolley, also of near Crawfordsville, and Mrs. Belle Runyon of Colville, Wash.; two brothers Edgar Jolley of Atlanta, Ga., and Charles Jolley of Portland, Ore.; 3 step-children, 3 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 5 step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Hunt and Son Funeral Home, with burial at Masonic Cemetery. Rev. Lester Wright will be the officiating minister. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday.
